The Beatles HOME — Fall, 2008
1. Eleanor Rigby |
The Foothill High School ROP Digital Media class produced music videos of songs by The Beatles. The exercise taught skills in videotaping and video editing using Adobe's Master Collection CS3 software. Each group of students selected a song from a list of more than 30, and a timeline was created in Premiere Pro. Lyrics were researched online and typed onto the timeline. Next, storyboards were created to match the lyrics, which were placed strategically to match the beat of the music. The fun part came when the director of each group called "Action!" Next, students learned how to capture the digital tape to the computer and experimented with effects such as slow and fast motion, black and white film, transitions, title screens, and more. This was the first major assignment for the students in the Digital Media class. Future assignments would incude working with audio using Adobe Soundbooth and working with special effects in Adobe After Effects. Voting for the best video commenced in October, 2008, with "Girl" getting the top nod. One lucky VOTER received a DVD of all 15 videos. Fab! (Sorry, we can't sell it, as the songs are copyrighted. We don't want to get sued by the Beatles.) MORE BEATLES: Check out the 2009 Beatles videos HERE. |
